THE IMPORTANCE OF ZINC
Zinc is one of the micronutrients required for plant growth and development. Zinc is essential for protein synthesis, seed and grain formation, plant maturity, growth regulation, and the formation of enzyme systems. Zinc is immobile in the soil, so a constant supply is needed for optimum growth. Zinc deficiency in soil causes stunted plant growth and ultimately yield loss.
BENEFITS OF ZINC
- Essential for the transformation of carbohydrates
- Regulates consumption of sugars
- Part of the enzyme systems which regulate plant growth
HOW DO PLANTS DEVELOP ZINC DEFICIENCY?
The most frequent cause of zinc deficiency in plants is deficient soil. Growers are encouraged to have their soil tested for zinc. If testing shows a deficiency, soil should be recharged with an application of zinc. In addition to zinc deficiency in the soil, research has shown that heavy applications of phosphorus without zinc can depress zinc uptake by the plant. This phosphorus/zinc imbalance can reduce yields substantially.
ZINC DEFICIENT SOILS USUALLY OCCUR IN:
- Heavily cropped fields
- Sandy soils
- High and low pH soils
- Newly leveled or terraced fields
- Cold and wet soils

NULEX ZINC TRIALS
Nulex® ammoniated zinc is designed to mix with ammonium polyphosphate (APP) solutions and is compatible with UAN and ammonium thiosulfate. When applied with a liquid starter in a concentrated band underneath the soil surface at planting, Nulex zinc can be ten times more effective than dry broadcast zinc. Application of zinc with phosphate fertilizer optimizes uptake of P and Zn in plants which enhances fertilizer efficiency and plant utilization when applied at correct rates. Nulex zinc is available in 15% and 20% forms.
In a 2016 trial conducted in Ohio, a 4.0 bu/A increase in yield was observed with the addition of Nulex zinc 15% to 19-17-0 at planting. The impact of Nulex zinc was evident early in the season, as displayed in the following photos of roots at V5.
In a 2016 irrigated trial conducted in Colorado, a yield increase of 6.9 bu/A was observed when Nulex zinc 15% was added with 10-34-0 at planting. When Eezy™ K24 was added with the 10-34-0 at planting, an 8.9 bu/A increase in yield was observed. When Eezy K24 is applied, plants are provided with adequate potassium that ensures optimum crop quality and yield. Potassium stimulates root growth, photosynthesis and seed formation.
BENEFITS OF NULEX AMMONIATED ZINC
HIGHLY EFFECTIVE
Nulex ammoniated complexes are designed to correct and prevent zinc deficiency in all crops. These complexes have been proven in university trials to increase yields.
EASY HANDLING AND APPLICATION
These zinc complexes are designed to work with high-poly liquid fertilizers without agitation or premixing. They may be applied at planting, broadcast, or through fertigation, and may be stored at low temperatures.
COST-EFFECTIVE
Nulex ammoniated zinc complexes are designed as an affordable liquid zinc source for conventional fertilizers.
