The Andersons Awarded U.S. Patent for Power PassĀ® Technology
Posted on June 04, 2026
MAUMEE, OHIO, June 4, 2026 – The Andersons, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDE) announced that it has received a patent for its innovative Power Pass® technology, a dual-action advancement designed to enhance crop performance while improving storability for select low-salt starter fertilizers.
Power Pass technology was developed to help growers maximize nutrient efficiency and support stronger plant health throughout the growing season. When used with starter fertilizer applications, the technology enhances nutrient absorption, helping plants utilize applied nutrients more effectively.
“Receiving this patent reinforces our commitment to developing innovative technologies that deliver measurable value to growers,” said Chuck Anderson, Vice President Agribusiness “Power Pass technology provides a unique dual benefit by supporting both crop performance and product storability, helping customers improve operational efficiency and agronomic outcomes.”
Increases Crop Performance
Power Pass technology increases crop performance by enhancing plant health, nutrient absorption and overall field performance. By increasing the absorption and utilization of applied nutrients, the technology helps support healthier plants that are better equipped to withstand environmental stressors such as drought, insect pressure and disease pressure.
Yield at harvest remains one of the strongest indicators of fertilizer treatment efficacy. Across both third-party and in-house trials conducted by The Andersons, the addition of Power Pass™ technology consistently increased yield at harvest across multiple geographies, demonstrating its ability to support stronger crop performance and improved nutrient utilization.
Enhances Storability
In addition to supporting crop performance, Power Pass™ technology enhances storability for select low-salt starter fertilizers. In testing conducted by The Andersons, Season Pass® Diamond with MicroCarb and Season Pass Plus Diamond with MicroCarb demonstrated an average 4-degree improvement in winter storability when formulated with Power Pass technology.
While reduced salt-out temperatures are commonly observed in Diamond products, results may vary across GoldStart® formulations. Following overwinter storage, The Andersons recommends recirculating tanks with proper agitation prior to pumping product in the spring to help ensure product consistency and performance.
The Andersons continues to invest in research-driven solutions that help growers optimize productivity and sustainability across diverse cropping systems.
